12K
The Siuslaw Dunes 12K course is an amazing point-to-point adventure offering magnificent views along open dunes and forested trails. The course is very challenging but super fun, beginning with a shuttle bus ride from Honeyman State Park down to the forested campground start line, then an epic tour of one of the most unique regions of America’s Pacific Coast.
This is an incredibly diverse course and there is nothing else like it anywhere. Runners travel through an assortment of ecological zones, including lush coastal rainforest, riverside estuaries and freshwater lakes.

Course Surfaces
The course’s surfaces present a unique variety of terrain and an epic challenge that will demand a runner’s attention and fitness. Overall, the 10K consists of the following surface types and approximate mileage TOTALS by surface type (not the order in which they are run):
4.0 miles of open sand dunes
1.2 miles of forested sandy trail (somewhat firm when damp, softer when dry, but runnable)
1.9 miles of dirt singletrack trails
0.7 miles of paved park paths and forest road
Course Detail By Section:
Start to Aid Station (Cleawox Lake): Runners leave the Waxmyrtle Aid Station along the paved forest road for 1/4 mile to Incinerator Trailhead and enter a hilly, forested sandy trail for one mile. Exiting the forested area, the course opens onto the main 4 mile open dunes section of the course, an incredible expanse unlike anything you’ve run on before. Remember to keep the course markings and wooden Forest Service sign posts on your left in order to remain in the non-motorized area of the dunes. After 4 very challenging and hilly miles on the dunes, you’ll crest the final dune at the Honeyman State Park boundary, see Cleawox Lake, and know you’re almost to the finish! The course descends down the last dune to the Sand Dunes Day Use area and Cleawox Lake Aid Station.
Aid Station to Finish (East Woahink Day Use): Runners leave the Aid Station along a mix of Honeyman State Park trails and bike paths through old forest. A park path footbridge goes over Hwy 101 to the East Woahink side of Honeyman, then its a mix of mostly flat lakeside trails for a mile before popping out onto the Woahink Lake peninsula, where the course skirts its grassy perimeter for the remaining half mile all the way to the day use gazebo for the finish!
Spectators
Your crew/supporters are welcome at the aid station and the Finish area but NOT at the Start Line or anywhere else on course.
Cleawox Aid Station: Parking is at the Sand Dunes Day Use parking area at Honeyman State Park, a couple miles west of the East Woahink staging area. There is a $5 day use parking fee upon entrance to the parking area. Cell service is fair here.
