Wy'east Trailfest presented by Salomon is a celebration of mountain trail running featuring Mt. Hood’s illustrious alpine terrain, with scenic and challenging 50K, 28K & 14K loop courses that reach Oregon’s rooftop at 8000’, plus a beautiful 8K (5 miler) and Kids Race to round out the weekend! Whether racing, volunteering or spectating, join us up high on Wy'east (the native ancestral name for Mt. Hood) for the Pacific NW’s rowdiest mountain trail race experience.
The 2024 Wy’east Trailfest 28K is a Golden Trail National Series race!
All weekend, we’ll celebrate the sport of trail running as we honor the mountain and recognize each other’s accomplishments with awards, excellent food, craft beverages, and fun games and activities up high at Mt. Hood Meadows.

The registration fee includes a beautiful, fully marked race course (by the Race Director), awesome staging venue, parking, timing and results, full service aid stations, medical support and communications, post race food and beverages, custom finisher award, live music, professional photography and several other essential services and requirements we don't need to mention.
The registration fee does not include a race shirt, hat or other add-on sales. Please review the Daybreak Racing Cancellation Policy if you have questions about withdrawing from the race.
Pro/Elite Runners
We reserve a limited number of entries for professional athletes. Email us if you earn all or some of your living racing on trails and have a competitive resumé.

Getting Here
Location
The event is located entirely at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Area within the Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon, on the southeastern side of the volcano off of Hwy 35.
Directions
Google Map directions to Mt. Hood Meadows from Portland. Allow 1.5 hours drive time from Portland.
Driving directions from Portland: Follow Hwy 26E through Government Camp, then continue on Hwy 35N. Follow signs to Hood River/Mt. Hood Meadows.
Nearest major airport is Portland Int’l Airport (PDX).
Accommodations
RV and car camping is available on the paved parking area at Mt. Hood Meadows on Friday night and Saturday night of race weekend (there are no soft surface camping areas). There is an overnight use fee, reserved and paid directly through Mt. Hood Meadows. There are no other overnight lodging options at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Many camping options exist at nearby campgrounds. The nearest hotel lodging is in Government Camp, 15 minutes from Mt. Hood Meadows. There are many additional lodging options in the Hood River area as well, 40 minutes north.

While we generally have favorable running conditions on race day, please come prepared for all types of weather!

Kids Race!
We will host a really fun .75 mile (1.2 kilometers) Kids Race on Sunday starting at 8:45AM, which is FREE and each child gets a race bib to wear! Parents/Guardians can register their participating child online through Ultrasignup or on race weekend in person. Kids under 6 years old will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Note the Kids Race is not timed and is available to encourage participation.
Course Description: The race begins at the “North” service road at the east edge of the Mt. Hood Meadows parking lot, then travels up the service road, connects onto the Beargrass Trail and descends to the finish line on the Sun Deck at the Mt. Hood Meadows lodge.

Post Race Celebration!
Stay and enjoy Mt. Hood Meadows together while we cheer on the race finishers! All participants receive a voucher ticket for food at the Mt. Hood Meadows’ Sahale lodge. Live music will also be featured in the afternoon on Saturday. Family and friends are invited to stay, eat and drink as well, but will need to order from the menu at Mt. Hood Meadows.
Awards
All podium finishers are recognized at an awards ceremony and receive an award commemorating their achievement, custom made by the race directors.
All participants receive a sweet custom award as they finish their race.
A raffle of some amazing sponsor swag will be held while runners are out on the course! Prizes will be given to raffle winners as they finish their race.

Youth Initiative
The Wy’east Trailfest 14K and 8K race is proud to be a part of the USATF Mountain, Ultra, Trail Running Youth Initiative – a program in cooperation with the American Trail Running Association (ATRA) designed to increase 14-to-18-year-old kids participation in trail races and lay the groundwork for American excellence in elite trail running competitions.
Youth get a discounted registration fee. The Youth category (must be under age 19 on race day) also has a limited number of free entries. Email the Race Director for more information.
Training Plans
Get the training prep needed for a successful race from Wy'east Wolfpack! They have first-hand knowledge of the courses and provide exceptional training and coaching services to help support you on the path to success.
Beneficiary
A portion of race proceeds will be donated to the non-profit Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue (PNWSAR), an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing search and rescue services for people who are lost or injured out of doors, primarily in the Mount Hood and Columbia River Gorge regions.
